LESS THAN 1 WEEK!

Ahh scary!  I went for a little run yesterday and it actually felt pretty good.  My hip flexor/quad (not sure which) have been bugging me for a couple weeks but had finally felt better so I thought I'd give running a try.  I decided I'd start off doing a run/walk combo which turned out to be pretty good.  Those first few steps into running from walking were a bit painful but once I got going I felt pretty good.  I ended up doing just 3 1/2 miles and then  lots of walking.  I was only planning on doing 2 miles of running and then more walking, but walking gets really boring, especially when you know you could get home faster if you just run.  Also, there were so many people out running yesterday!  Probably because it was a beautiful day and people are starting to come out of hibernation.  That also made me want to run more.  I don't like watching people run by me (though as a slow runner you'd think I'd be used to it)!  

Well, 6 days from now I'll be doing a little thing called the Boston Marathon, just a little jog through scenic Massachusetts.  :)  Actually, as I was running yesterday and listening to my ipod, some song came on and I started getting really excited for actually doing the marathon.  I think it was probably some cheesy 80's song (wish I could remember now) but nonetheless, I was thinking about why I'm running and running down Comm Ave and seeing family and friends and random strangers cheering.  My goal for the marathon is two fold.  1. I want to finish before they start shutting down.  2. I want to enjoy the experience.  Everyone has said it's going to be such a great experience and that I should really try to take it all in. So that's become my 2nd goal for that day.
